The Night After Christmas (Santa’s Yuletide Steam Beer)
Specifics
General Information
Method: All Grain

This recipe calls for Cascade hops, which I grew on my own, in my very own back yard last year.  Cool!  I grew 1 oz, so I'll have to suppliment with another ounce.

Comments

Black Patent Malt

Substituting English Black Patent for American.  I swapped 4 oz for 4 oz, and it affected the color quite a bit.   If I make that substitution again, I'll try using 1/2 as much English.

Equipment Loss

For a second time, the equipment loss of my mash-tun measured zero.  Two for two now.  One more time, and it becomes law.

Brew Kettle Strainer

My stainless steel washer hose strainer seriously crudded up when I drained my kettle.  I'd say this plan doesn't work for crap.  Next time, I'll try the stainless collander that came with the kettle, provided my wort chiller will fit down in there.
